Iontophoresis is a water bath through which a weak direct current flows. This leads to the sweat glands gradually stopping their activity. The treatment must be carried out twice a day for 15 minutes twice a day for the first 10 days or so. If there is a reduction or even a cessation of the tendency to sweat, the therapy can be ended. Practice shows that the therapy usually has to be repeated about two to six times after one to six weeks.
